We were made to feel that we had come home.
- Peter Mayle, "One Year in Provence"
CHARA
greek χαρά khar-ah
Built as a wedding gift by two local families from Alleins, this unique home has been a celebration of life for more than 160 years. Its al fresco paintings have borne witness to the stories of generations - farmers, craftsmen, musicians, artists, teachers, writers and builders.
We were warmly welcomed in its story not just as friends, but as family. This delightful experience had a name.
That is the story of Chara, and we wish to share it with you.
- Ines & Laurent

Whether you settle into the "Grande Maison" or the adjoining loft, you’ll find ample space for a cheerful gathering of up to 20 people, with room to accommodate two younger guests in extra beds. An unobtrusive elevator links the two areas, a thoughtful touch you’ll especially appreciate when managing extra luggage or treasured belongings.
A rare and delightful feature of Chara is its two fully equipped kitchens—one in the Grande Maison and another in the loft—perfect for preparing leisurely feasts or indulging in culinary experiments inspired by the flavors of Provence.
With its thick, time-tested walls and traditional shutters, Chara keeps the fierce Provençal sun at bay. And when summer days grow especially warm, every room is cooled by a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system, ensuring modern comfort without compromising the home’s timeless appeal.
Chara is more than a house—it’s a haven, thoughtfully crafted for both joyful gatherings and serene moments, all under the golden Provençal sun.
